Tilda Swinton, the renowned British actress, has been making headlines recently due to her refusal to follow Covid-19 protocols on film sets. The pandemic has forced the entertainment industry to adopt new guidelines to ensure the safety of everyone involved in the production of films and TV shows. However, Swinton has made it clear that she does not intend to follow these guidelines.
This behavior has not gone unnoticed, and several crew members have expressed their concerns about working with Swinton. They fear that her actions could put their health and safety at risk, especially a recent surge in Covid-19 cases in the UK. Swinton’s refusal to follow Covid-19 protocols is particularly concerning given her position of influence in the film industry. Many actors and crew members look up to her, and her actions could set a bad example for others to follow. The entertainment industry has already been hit hard by the pandemic, and any further outbreaks on film sets could be disastrous for the industry as a whole.
Swinton isn’t the only celebrity to refuse on-set COVID protocols. Fran Drescher spoke to Variety about her stance against vaccine directives. Moreover, recently Woody Harrelson also opposed pandemic related rules in Hollywood.
Known for her roles in independent films and blockbusters, Tilda Swinton has collected numerous honours. She has won an Oscar, a British Academy Film Award, besides nominations for three Golden Globe Awards and five Screen Actors Guild Awards. In 2020, she was named among one of the greatest actors of the 21st century, by The New York Times.
She opened her appearance at South by Southwest by expressing relief that the pandemic has reached a point where audiences at the event weren’t required to still wear masks.
Swinton said, “I’m about to shoot a picture in Ireland, and I was told to wear a mask at all times, and I’m not.”
